On the bus, a man was verbally abusing his pregnant wife and, at one point, even raised his fist as if he wanted to hit her. The people around them saw everything but remained silent. A few seconds later, something happened that shocked all the passengers.
As soon as the young couple boarded the bus, the tension was palpable. The woman was gripping the handrail with one hand, supporting her stomach with the other. Her eyes were red from crying, her movements unsteady, as if she could barely stand. The man followed her closely, giving her no space, and his voice was already thick with anger.

“Stop, I’m not finished,” he said sharply, grabbing her arm. “How can you leave like that, while I’m talking to you?”
“Stop, Mark,” she replied in a calm but firm voice. “I’ve already said everything. We’re getting a divorce. I can’t go on like this… I’m afraid for my child.”
He smiled, but it was anything but a pleasant smile.
“I didn’t give you permission to divorce. Who needs you in this state? Do you think anyone will want you? You belong only to me, understand?”
The woman shook her head, barely holding back her tears.
“No. I won’t live with a man who raises his hand to a woman.”
After these words, the man visibly lost control. His voice grew louder and harsher; he paid no attention to the people around him or to his wife, who was trembling and barely able to stand. He hurled insults and obscenities at her, while she simply lowered her eyes so as not to provoke him further.
The passengers exchanged glances: some pretended to look at their phones, others watched secretly, but no one intervened. Everyone hoped the situation would calm down on its own.

Suddenly, the man raised his arm and clenched his fist. The movement was quick, almost uncontrolled, and for a moment it seemed he was going to hit her.
But at that precise moment, an unexpected event occurred. The entire bus was stunned.
An elderly man, sitting next to the woman and remaining silent until then, suddenly stood up. His movement was precise and deliberate.
He seized the man’s arm mid-movement and, without giving him time to react, struck him on the back of the neck with a swift and decisive blow.
The man lost his balance and fell to the floor between the seats. A deathly silence fell over the bus.
The old man looked at him calmly, but his gaze was so hard that no one dared to move.
“Don’t you dare touch a pregnant woman,” he said softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear. “She’s told you everything clearly. Leave her alone.”

The man lay on the ground, clutching the back of his neck and breathing heavily. He was no longer shouting and didn’t even try to get up immediately, as if he had only just realized what he had done.
When the bus stopped at the next stop, he stood up abruptly, avoiding the gaze of the others, and got off silently, as if he feared not only the police, but also the gaze of the old man.
The woman remained there, trembling, then slowly sat down on an empty seat. She looked at the old man with gratitude; tears still shone in her eyes, but also relief.
